Poland's Solaris to deliver 200 buses to Belgrade
The city public transportation company GSP Beograd signed Friday (8 March 2013) an agreement with Poland's Solaris to purchase 200 low-floor articulated buses for the needs of public transportation in the capital city.
This procurement is financed with the proceeds of a EUR 65 million loan extended by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The first 10 buses should be put in service in Belgrade as early as June and the remaining 190 during November 2013. Solaris will supply these buses with all the accompanying equipment and organize a training for bus drivers in the capital.
Buses are equipped with a diesel engine in compliance with Euro 5 standards, built-in electronic brake control system and a remote vehicle tracking system, and they can accommodate 100 people standing in addition to 45 people sitting.
These buses also have mechanical ramps for people with disabilities, they are air conditioned and feature an internal video monitoring system.
The agreement was signed between GSP Beograd Acting CEO Nebojsa Ceran and Maugrozhata Olshevska, a member of the Solaris Sales and Marketing Managing Board, in the presence of Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas.
On that occasion, Ceran said that the procurement of another 200 new buses for the needs of the city transportation in Belgrade was in the pipeline.
