Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport ranks second in Europe and seventh in the world in service quality and investments, a poll conducted by the US prestigious agency eDreams has shown.

A total of 14 million passengers took part in the poll and said that their main criteria had been comfort and modern features offered by airports.

Nikola Tesla Airport ranked above Stockholm and Amsterdam’s airports. In order to even be placed on the list, an airport needs to have numerous investments and annual increase of 20 percent in passenger traffic.

Nikola Tesla Airport has obtained new features in the last two years, such as VIP lounge, children’s lounge, two restaurants and a large duty-free shop.

The first phase of a terminal reconstruction has been finished and the airport has introduced high-tech electronic equipment for detection of weapons and explosives.

The airport is planning on opening several world-renowned stores and souvenir shops.

According to announcements, a total of EUR 40mn will be invested in the reconstruction of Nikola Tesla Airport in the next three years, Tanjug news agency reports.
