Mišković to buy Department stores "Beograd"?
Four days ago, Ivana Veselinović, vice president of "Delta holding", stated that that company "ended procurement of enterprises in Serbia" and that it would continue the development only through "greenfield" investments and expansion in the region.
However, Miroslav Mišković, the owner of this company, prepares for the procurement of property of Department stores "Beograd", which are in bankruptcy.
This was confirmed by the president of the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Serbia, Milenko Smiljanić, who negotiated in the headquarters of "Delta" about the terms for the workers once Department stores "Beograd" are taken over by Mišković. That meeting was attended by businessman Milan Beko who, together with Mišković, makes Serbian part of the consortium with Swiss company "Jelmoli", which owns Department stores and is a "big European company".
- I was invited to that meeting, because Beko and Mišković wanted to familiariaze themselves with the social situation in the Department stores and to get information on the positions of the trade union. I informed them that the employees must keep their jobs and that was acceptable to them - said Smiljanić, adding that "certain lady" from company "Benetton" was present at the meeting and was also interested in the Department stores.
The Board of creditors has decided to sell the entire property: 30 department stores on 250,000 square meters. The company has been estimated to 200m EUR, but it is expected that the final price will be about 130m EUR.
