State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and Domestic Trade and Telecommunications Stevan Nikcevic has signed bilateral protocols on the liberalization of goods and services market with the United Mexican States and the Republic of Panama, while negotiations with the Dominican Republic have been completed and the same protocol is expected to be signed soon with that country as well, the competent ministry said in a release today.

These documents were signed in Geneva on January 22nd, as part of the process of Serbia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Serbia has so far signed bilateral protocols with 13 WTO members, with negotiations still going on with India, Ukraine and Brazil.

In order to achieve its goal to join the WTO in 2013, Serbia needs to adopt necessary legal solutions and bring most of the remaining bilateral negotiations closer to completion by end-July this year.

During his visit to Geneva, Nikcevic also met with WTO representatives, chairman of the Task Force for Serbia's accession to the WTO, Swedish Ambassador Svard Kapra, and EU representatives at the United Nations and the WTO to consider priority steps towards the finalization of the process of accession to the WTO.
