German and Italian investors more and more interested in construction of Belgrade – Timisoara highway

Among the ambitious plans for construction of new roads in Serbia within the next ten years is also construction of a highway from Belgrade through Pančevo and Vršac to Timisoara.

The most interested in this highway are Italians who own few thousands companies in Romania, more than 15,000 of which are settled in the region of Timisoara. Besides, German investors are also interested in the construction of the highway.

However, it is too early to speak about the date when the construction of this highway could start, because it is pretty big investment. The value of the first phase of the works, including highway feasibility study, is estimated to about 6m EUR.

Public Company "Putevi Srbije" mentions options of participation of public and private sector, as well as possibility of allotment of concessions, which was the case with Horgoš-Požega section.

Having in mind favorable geographic position and further development of traffic in the region, it is expected that potential investors in the construction of the highway will appear.
