Top motors from Subotica for entire world - Dunkermotoren starts production at new plant and doubles capacity on October 1st
Dunkermotoren will start producing electric motors at its new production plant in Mali Bajmok Industrial Zone on October 1st. Other production lines will also be transferred soon from the parent company in Germany to Subotica to make the palette of products in Serbia complete, people at Dunkermotoren told eKapija.
- Construction of the production plant is completed, we are moving to a new building on September 30th, while the full-scale production will start October 1st. So far, we have been producing electric motors and low-capacity drives of up to 500W at the previous plant. We will now continue to make the same products at the new plant because we're the best in the world in that domain. Other lines for producing small motors will also be transferred from the parent company to make the production plant in Subotica complete – Csaba Schell, director of Dunkermotoren in Subotica, said in a talk with eKapija.
Last year we produced 70,000 units, while the plan for this year is to double our production in Subotica.
- We constantly introduce new lines, so that the production in 2012 is expected to reach 140,000 units with the commissioning of the new plant. We will continue to introduce new lines every three or four months in the following period – our interlocutor announced.
Dunkermotoren currently has 60 workers at its Subotica-based plant and plans to hire another 190 over the next five years.
- We now employ 60 workers, 8 of whom are young development engineers. The plan is to double manpower within the next 1.5 years. The new plant can employ a total of 250 people, which is the number of employees we plan to have in five years.
Dunkermotoren markets motors made in the Subotica production plant all around the world, while its most significant markets are western European countries, China and Japan.
- Our plant in Subotica markets motors all around the world through the central procurement office in Germany. It is good that none of our buyers holds more than 10 percent of the market share. Our largest buyers are processing industries and manufacturers of medical equipment, agricultural machines, solar collectors and, of course, electric blinds and shades - said Csaba Schell.
The U.S. company Ametec Inc., manufacturer of electronic instruments, acquired Dunkermotoren in April. When asked if that takeover had led to some changes in the plans for Subotica, our interlocutor replied:
- Our production expansion project was launched in line with the new plans. According to the takeover agreement, Dunkermotoren should increase its presence in both American markets. A change will be felt first in the parent company in Germany. Our plant in Subotica now receives much bigger orders, which is very good because we had to cut the number of workers by 10 percent in January 2012 - eKapija's interlocutor explained.
For the needs of this company, the company Slobodna Zona Subotica has been building a 4,800 sqm production plant on a 1.5 hectare land lot in Mali Bajmok Industrial Zone since May 2012. The author of the main design is Subotica-based Support, whereas the contractor is SMB Gradnja.
