Aluminum exported via Ploce instead of Bar - KAP exports ingots via port in Croatia
(Port of Ploce)
Ingots produced by Podgorica Aluminum Plant (KAP) have not been exported via Bar for more than a year. Instead, the Croatian port of Ploce is used for that purpose.
That practically means that Bar is no longer part of the repro chain, the regional media report.
A decision to export ingots via Ploce has been made by the buyer - the Swiss company Glencore, which collects aluminum at the gate of the Podgorica-based plant.
Glencore's argument for such move is the fact that the export was on one occasion halted for a short time because of a KAP's debt.
- It is true that aluminum has not been exported via Port of Bar for over a year. But that will change soon - said Nebojsa Dozic, government's representative in the KAP's Board of Executives.
It is estimated that the annual revenues of the Bar-based company have dropped by about EUR 1 million because of aforementioned decision.
