Talgo Train operates between Sarajevo and Mostar - Coming to Serbia in August 2012
A new electric Talgo train was operated for the first time between Sarajevo and Mostar on Wednesday morning.
On that occasion, Federal Minister of Transport and Communications Enver Bijedic said at the railway station in Sarajevo that the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina was the first country in the region to use Talgo trains in rail transport.
The train that operated yesterday morning was produced by Croatia's Koncar Elektricna Vozila in cooperation with experts of the national railway company of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina. One such train costs more than EUR 5 million.
Talgo trains that were procured three years ago in Spain for EUR 67.6 million will start running on rails in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Hungary in August.
Talgo trains are modern trains featuring TV sets, internet access, shower booths and other luxury equipment.
A total of EUR 1.2 million have been provided from a loan granted by Spanish development funds for the introduction of Talgo trains in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
