Project for privatization of city building land in Serbia to be ready by November 1st, 2006?

Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations, Milan Parivodić, expects that the project for privatization of city building land, which is now managed exclusively by the State, will be ready by November 1st, 2006.

In addition to the representatives of the Ministry of Capital Investments, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of International Economic Relations, the experts from Germany, Austria and Switzerland work on that project. The project also relates to the passing of new Law on Planning and Construction of Facilities.

The elaboration of the project worth 800,000 EUR, confirmed by the Government of Serbia, lasts for two months already, and, starting from June 14, 2006, eight Austrian experts with PhD degrees in that field joined Serbian experts team on the same projects.

Parivodić estimates that the economy of Serbia can not be completely the market one if the State monopolistically owns city building land and he reminds that that land is now one of the main national resources outside the market mechanisms.
