Vat Energija builds EUR 60 million wind farm near Negotin
(the Annex signing)
Branko Markovic, deputy mayor of Negotin, and Bozidar Skaramuca, director of Vat Energija, signed Friday (24 February 2012) an Annex to the Agreement for the construction of a wind farm in the location of Nikine Vode–Popadija-Plavna, it was announced on the municipal website.
By signing the Annex to the Agreement, Vat Energija, which finances the construction of the wind farm in the location of Popadija in the municipality of Negotin, takes on the obligation to hire local construction companies and manpower to carry out the works worth about EUR 60 million.
According to the words of Branko Markovic, the Annex specifies that the investor is obliged to start the construction of a wind farm within two years from the moment it receives a building permit, as well as that 10% of the planned investment must be implemented during the first year.
According to Bozidar Skaramuca, 18 wind generators with the total capacity of 60 megawatts will be built in the location of Nikine Vode-Popadija. All the measuring is done, and it shows that the wind here is strong enough to make the wind farm worthwhile.
Skaramuca also pointed out that the cooperation with the local self-government was exceptional, adding that laws in the Republic of Serbia were extremely favorable for the construction of wind farms, that is, the use of alternative sources of energy. Commencement of the construction of the wind farm in the location of Popadija will exclusively depend on administrative procedures, and the work will kick off as soon as Vat Energija collects all necessary permits and approvals from competent institutions, reads the statement on the municipal website.
