Serbian Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric signed today with the Italian lingerie producer Calzedonia an agreement on that company's new EUR 20 million investment in Subotica, which should lead to the creation of 1,000 new jobs until 2014.

The new factory in Subotica will span 18,000 square meters and produce Intimissimi underwear for women, and the city of Subotica will allot a land in the industrial zone Mali Bajmok to that Italian company for free.

The agreement on the new investment was signed by Minister Ciric, Calzedonia Investment Director Francesco Rufolli and Subotica Mayor Sasa Vucinic.

Rufolli said that Calzedonia was expanding in Croatia where it had about 2,000 employees, adding that the company's plan was to expand in Serbia as well.

The mayor of Subotica stressed that the land would be ready for construction works until early March 2012.
