Ambitious plans of Hungarian Oil company "MOL" to open 8 gas stations in Serbia in one month and another 20 in the following year, in which it should invest over 20 million EUR, turned to be unrealistic at the very start, because that company managed to open only 5 gas stations, 3 of which in Belgrade and 1 in Subotica and Niš.

On one hand, that situation is explained as "MOL's" empty promises, whereas on the other hand, the people who are informed about oil economy claim that delay hides expectation that the Regulation about ban on import of derivatives to Serbia will be cancelled prior to June 30, 2006.

Asked what is the real reason for postponement of opening of "MOL" gas stations in Serbia, Saša Trišić, retail manager of "MOL" group for SCG, says that, in addition to 5 already built gas stations, all planned gas stations in Serbia are finished, but there are some factors that slow down their opening and they are out of "MOL's" control.

As an example, Trišić cites the gas station built on Horgoš for which all documents are collected, but it can not be put into operation until the border crossing is opened. That gas station is, by the way, the first that "MOL" built in Serbia and, at the same time, it is the biggest gas station built by aforementioned Hungarian company in Serbia.
