Jeremic: I will do my best to keep Serbia on top of tennis world
Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić was elected president of the Serbian Tennis Association (TSS) at the organization's assembly held in Belgrade on Thursday.
Until now, Jeremić held the office of president of Association of Serbian Tennis Professionals.
The foreign minister and ruling Democratic Party (DS) official addressed the extraordinary meeting of the TSS to say that he would do his best to make sure our country remains ranked among global tennis "super powers":
"I will try to, through active and energetic engagement, do all I can to preserve Serbia's number one spot in the world."
He also stressed there were different reasons why he decided to accept the nomination.
"Firstly, my life and work - and that is to present Serbia abroad. And secondly - because Serbia is a global tennis super power," explained Jeremić.
Jeremić said another reason was his desire for the values promoted by Serbia's tennis players "to take root in our society".
"There can be no success in this sport without hard work and dedication. You cannot cheat your way to becoming a tennis champion. Everything you earn, you earn only with your work," said Jeremić, who was elected TSS president today in a unanimous vote of the assembly.
