Statement of Intent signed for construction of the Belgrade metro
Representatives of the governments of Serbia and France and the City of Belgrade signed on November 18th a Statement of Intent for the construction of the Belgrade metro.
The plan is that France finances the design of a feasibility study and the construction of the first metro line.
This document was signed by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas and State Secretary in the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry Pierre Lellouche.
The City of Belgrade also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the French company Alstom Transport, which is going to build the metro and supply trains.
The Belgrade Assembly accepted an information on the implementation of the project Belgrade Metro on 6 October 2011. According to that information, works on the construction of the Belgrade metro are due to kick off in two years.
