A bid for the acquisition of a 52-percent stake in Mercator, which was submitted last week by Agrokor in a consortium with the EBRD, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the investment company One Equity Partners, includes five conditions that will be met if this consortium manages to take over the Slovenian market chain.

According to the Ljubljana Finance daily, of which journalists are familiar with the content of the consortium's bid, Agrokor and investors promise to keep Mercator operating under the same name in all markets, except in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, since the leading trade company in these markets is Konzum.

Second, the name of Mercator will also be used to conquer new markets, the first of which will most probably be Turkey. If Agrokor takes over Mercator, Konzum-Mercator Holding will operate in nine markets, from Slovenia to Bulgaria.

Third, the new holding intends to increase the number of employees at Mercator in all markets, as well as to increase their salaries and provide them with other perks.

Fourth, Agrokor promises to offer equal or better terms to Mercator's suppliers during the period of three years upon the takeover.

Fifth, the share of products of Agrokor's companies in Mercator's offer will remain the same.
