Banja Vrdnik surpasses Vrnjacka Banja by number of foreign tourists

In the municipality of Irig, an increase in the number of foreign guests of 72% compared to the same period last year has been recorded, and by the number of total arrivals of foreign tourists, Banja Vrdnik has surpassed Vranjacka Banja, said the state secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Youth, Uros Kandic. In addition to apartments in new buildings, the construction of a new hotel in Irig, new hotel capacities in Banja Vrdnik, there is also an increase in the number of properties active in tourism in the territory of this municipality, pointed out Kandic.

In the center of Vrdnik, as the Provincial Government announced, a reconstructed park has also been opened, and the provincial secretary for economy and tourism, Nenad Ivanisevic, said that a continuation of the cooperation of the secretariat with that local self-government had been agreed and that, in the reconstructed park, free internet was being introduced for all users and the installation of video surveillance at intersections in tourist places was being financed.

According to the president of the municipality of Irig, Tihomir Stojakovic, the reconstructed park is one of the biggest and most beautiful projects implemented in the past six years.

– This is a valuable investment for Banja Vrdnik and this tourist place, so we expect to cooperate with the ministry and the secretariat in the coming period – Stojakovic said and added that the works on developing the municipal edifice were in progress and that, in the next three years, the remaining three old buildings in the center of Irig would also be adapted.
