Minimum wage for 2025 probably around RSD 53,500 – Final decision on August 28
– That conclusion can be drawn from the statement of Vucevic and Mali, who said that, at that moment, it was being considered whether it was possible to equalize the values of the minimum wage and the minimal consumer basket – Mihajlovic said for Beta.
He added that it meant that, with a 13.7% increase, the minimum wage of RSD 47,000 in the current year would equalize with the value of the minimal consumer basket of RSD 53,500.
He pointed out that that didn’t satisfy the representative trade unions SSSS and the United Branch Trade Unions “Independence” (UGS Nezavisnost), which had asked for the minimum wage to be 60% of the average consumer basket, or RSD 61,800.
During the negotiations, the employers offered an increase of 7.7%, equal to the projected growth of the GDP and inflation for 2025, and for a higher increase, they are requesting a compensation through a reduced tax.
The exact increase will be set at the session of the Social and Economic Council on August 28.
The minister of finance of Serbia, Sinisa Mali, also said, after the meeting of the Social and Economic Council on the level of the minimum wage for 2025, that the discussions with representatives of employers and trade unions had been constructive and that the government would come out with its final position on August 28, when the official session of the council would be held, the Government of Serbia announced.
After the session, also attended by the prime minister of Serbia, Milos Vucevic, Mali said that he believed that the minimum wage increase would be double-digit, reminding that the Ministry of Finance had said the day before, after the third round of technical talks, that it would be more than 10%.
