The prime minister of Serbia, Milos Vucevic, has stated today that he expects, following the session of the Social-Economic Council, if an agreement is reached with the trade unions and the Serbian Association of Employers, for the minimum wage to be increased by a double-digit percentage and for the increase to exceed the inflation trends.

– The minimum wage will, for the first time, be brought to a level where it almost entirely covers the minimal consumer basket, so that we can more justly distribute what is produced and earned in Serbia – he said for TV Prva.

He added that he was optimistic, although the negotiations were not easy, as the trade unions expected higher salaries, whereas the minimum wage was the basis for calculation of the coefficient of other wages, that is, that the increase of the minimum wage would initiate the growth of other wages as well.
