SMB Gradnja and Jedinstvo to build first phase of regional sanitary landfill in Indjija - Investment worth EUR 12 million
An agreement on the commencement of the first phase of construction of a regional sanitary landfill was signed yesterday in Indjija. On that occasion, Indjija Mayor Goran Jesic stated that the location for the landfill had been determined on the basis of a study designed by the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina six years earlier, and added that the landfill would be built near the highway, in a location that met all European environmental standards and was sufficiently remote from all settlements.
- The land is purchased and infrastructure is already developed. The funds for the construction of the landfill are provided by the Serbian government and the Environment Protection Fund, and partially by the World Bank and from the budget of the municipality of Indjija. The public procurement procedure is ended, the documentation required for the building permit is completed, and the act of the agreement signing introduces the consortium of two companies that won the tender into the project, with the aim of having the body of the landfill finished until the year's end so we could expect to obtain an operating permit in the first quarter of 2012 - Jesic stressed.
He said that the landfill was managed by the company Ingrin and that the plan was to recapitalize that company through introduction of private capital, with the aim of continuing the investment in renewable energy sources, that is, the construction of a waste burning power plant.
A non-refundable donation from the Republic Environment Protection Fund has enabled the commencement of the first phase of construction. The value of the planned investment is estimated at about EUR 12 million.
Zeljka Jurakic, director of the Republic Environment Protection Fund, pointed out that that fund had granted RSD 260 million for the purpose of co-funding the construction of the body of the landfill and accompanying facilities.
Ingrin Director Ivana Karan said that the landfill would be built in six phases.
Works on the construction of the regional sanitary landfill are entrusted to the consortium of companies SMB Gradnja and Jedinstvo, and SMB Gradnja CEO Predrag Petricevic announced that the companies would respect all deadlines and agreed obligations. Most Important News
