Turkish company will build the largest solar power plant in SE Europe in Serbia - Fortis Energy bought a 180 MW project with battery storage in Sremska Mitrovica

Turkish company Fortis Energy has announced that it has purchased a 180 MW solar project with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia.

The company expects it to be one of the largest solar power plants and energy storage systems in Southeast Europe.

Fortis plans to install BESS with a capacity of 36 MWh.

Construction is expected to commence in 2025.

Fortis Energy is developing three wind power projects in Serbia - in Jagodina, Petrovac and Vranje, with a total capacity of 481 MW, all expected to be completed by 2026.

In May, the company announced that it was finalizing the acquisition of two biogas power plants in Pancevo.
