For a long time now, it is known that the Morava Corridor will be the first smart highway in Serbia with equipment enabling the car software to directly communicate with the software on the smart highway. In addition to this highway under construction, all the other highways in the territory of Serbia should become such as well, as a project is currently being prepared by Telekom Srbija and the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, which will turn all the existing thousand kilometers of the fastest routes in the country into smart highways.

The new European Commission directive proscribes that all new cars produced in the EU have to have equipment for direct communication with highway software installed.

– That means that, in the coming years, you will no longer be able to speed, because the car will read the signs instead of you, if there are people who don’t know how to read them, and there are – said the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic.
