Djedovic: Functional tests of block B3 of TPP Kostolac to begin before August

The minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, has stated that the functional tests of the block B3 of the Thermal Power Plant Kostolac are expected to begin before August, so as to carry out guarantee tests, which is the pre-condition for the new production capacity to be handed over to Elektroprivreda Srbije.

In the press release, the ministry says that Djedovic Handanovic said in Kostolac during her conversation with the president of CMEC, Fang Yanshui, and the visit to the block built by that company, that all the physical works on that structure of strategic importance for Serbia had been completed.

The minister said that there had been certain delays, that it was a big and complex project, built under difficult circumstances, but that it would be absolutely the safest and most modern one that Elektroprivreda Srbije had, as it had been built in line with the most modern standards, including the most modern environmental protection standards.

She also estimated that the new block was of fundamental importance for the energy security and safety of Serbia, especially considering the increased need for electrical energy in the winter, but also the summer.
