Macron announces visit to Serbia – Finalization of military agreements on purchase of Rafale aircraft planned

The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, has stated that he intends to visit Serbia “in the coming weeks or months”, where he plans to finalize the negotiations about military agreements, including the agreement on the sale of Rafale aircraft to Belgrade.

Macron said that he had had an “extremely fruitful” talk with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, about the “economic, defense and energy questions” on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in Great Britain.

– Military questions are part of our agenda. In the coming weeks or months, I will visit Serbia so that we would finalize those discussions which are the subject of the technical, financial and political negotiations between our countries – Macron answered at the press conference when asked to comment the status of the agreement with Belgrade on the purchase of the French Rafale fighter jets.

The French president characterized the relations of Paris and Belgrade as “firm, honest and structural for both countries and the entire region.”
