Transformation of former Main Rail Station in Belgrade into Historical Museum of Serbia to start – Looking for company for reconstruction, adaptation and repair of space

The Historical Museum of Serbia has published the tender for the reconstruction, adaptation and repair of the Main Rail Station in Belgrade and the repurposing of the facility into the building of the Historical Museum of Serbia. The estimated value of the works has not been named.

– As the repair of the facades and the roof has been carried out, this project pertains exclusively to the interior of the facility and the repurposing of the entire space, with minimal interventions on the façade joinery, as well as a minor intervention on the roof – the technical documentation says.

Access to the reconstruction can be split into several sections: the reconstruction of the entrance parts and the passageways to the platform, the reconstruction of the basement and the separation of the loft, the repair of the first-floor ceilings, the reconstruction of the staircases and the installation of the planned elevators, the meeting of all the museology criteria and the forming of a new substation, a space for the diesel-powered generator and the technical rooftop balconies.

Let us remind that, back in November 2020, the Government of Serbia adopted the decision for the Historical Museum of Serbia to be moved to the facility of the former Main Rail Station, which had been previously moved out of the Sava Amphitheater.
