As part of the Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit, agreements were signed that will improve the cooperation between Serbia and China in the field of energy, stated the Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedović Handanovic. She pointed out that the framework agreement includes the construction of facilities for delivery of oil and oil derivatives, and that the signed memorandum foresees support for the investment in the solar panel factory.

- The construction of a plant for the processing of oil and oil-derivatives in Smederevo has been outlined. The new facility will produce oil derivatives in accordance with the EU's highest technological, environmental and product quality standards. The total amount of the investment is estimated at around EUR 2.4 billion, and the direct employment of 700 people and the indirect employment of around 2,400 workers are planned - the minister pointed out on her official Instagram account.

When it comes to the solar panel factory, the memorandum signed with Hunan Rich Photovoltaic Science & Technology, as she pointed out, signifies the support of the Government of Serbia for that investment.

- The solar panel factory with a capacity of 1 GW will be located in Paracin, along with the construction of a solar power plant. These agreements represent a new step towards a sustainable energy future and strengthening of ties between our countries - Djedovic Handanovic pointed out.

As specified on the official website of the Government of Serbia, the solar power plant will have a capacity of 200 MW. In addition, as added in the announcement on the Government's website, plan calls for EUR 30 million to be invested in the solar panel factory and 180 workers to be employed over the course of three years.
