Three New Foreign Investors Coming to Vojvodina – American Ecor Global and Belgian Somnis Bedding to Invest EUR 80 Million in Novi Becej, Hungarian Jastreb to Open Facility in Mali Idjos Worth EUR 11.5 Million

The opening of facilities of two companies is expected in Novi Becej, one American and one Belgian company, whereas a Hungarian company is to invest in Mali Idjos.

According to the provincial secretary for regional development, interregional cooperation and local self-administration, Aleksandar Sofic, the American company is Ecor Global, which produces ecological panels from agricultural residue, and the construction of the facility entails an investment worth over EUR 70 million and at least 100 new jobs.

The Belgian company Somnis Bedding, which produces mattresses, will invest over EUR 10 million, and the employment of 120 workers is expected in the first phase alone, whereas in Mali Idjos, the construction of a facility for the production of electrodes of the company Jastreb has been announced, and the company will invest EUR 11.5 million and create 140 new jobs.

Sofic handed over the agreements on the co-financing of investment projects in industrial-business zones, worth RSD 230 million, to the representatives of the municipalities of Mali Idjos and Novi Becej.

The total value of the investments amounts to around RSD 288 million, and the Provincial Government has set aside funds for the first two projects in two local self-governments, while the plan is to sign agreements on another four projects in three local self-governments.

– The measure of support for investment projects in the industrial-business zones has led to significant results regarding the creation of a healthy business environment for attracting local and foreign investments, and the most important thing is the creation of new jobs – Sofic said.

According to secretary Sofic, the commission for the evaluation of the projects has selected six projects and taken over the realization of the public procurement procedure for the contractors.

– Due to the deadlines in the public procurement procedure, a part of the procurement procedures has been completed and today we are signing triple agreements with the contractors and the representatives of the municipalities of Novi Becej and Mali Idjos, and the signing of the agreements on two projects in Temerin and one each in Ruma and Zrenjanin awaits us in the coming period – said Sofic.

The earmarked funds are meant for the infrastructural equipping of the business zone in Mali Idjos and the construction of a part of the traffic route in the industrial zone Izlaz in Novi Becej.
