The Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport has placed 190th of a total of 194 airports on this year’s ranking list of the best airports in the world, which is assembled by AirHelp based on research.

According to AirHelp, the best three airports are the Muscat International Airport in Oman, the Recife International Airport in Brazil and the Cape Town International Airport in the Republic of South Africa.

The top 10 includes as many as four airports in Brazil and three in Japan.

The top-rated European airport is in the Spanish city of Bilbao, but it is only 21st, followed by the Helsinki Airport (26th) and the Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport (28th).

The biggest European airport, the one in Frankfurt, placed only 175th.

AirHelp is a company which represents the rights of passengers to get a refund in cases of major delays or flight cancellations. That is why, as said, in ranking the airports, it placed emphasis, at 60%, on the statistics of the accuracy of the flights. The opinions of the passengers themselves accounted for 20% of the rating. For that purpose, 15,800 people from 58 countries were surveyed for their opinions about the staff, the waiting times, the accessibility and the cleanness of an airport.

Another 20% of the rating was formed based on the possibility of shopping and the presence of hospitality facilities. The passengers were asked to rate the shops and the restaurants at the airports they had visited most recently.

Toward the bottom of the list is the airport in Sofia (187th), and the airport in Lisbon and London Gatwick placed below the Belgrade Airport (191st and 192nd respectively).

In the bottom two places on the list are the international airports in Malta and Banjarmasin, Indonesia.

The survey encompassed the 194 biggest and most famous airports in the world, selected based on popularity and business operations among a total of around 4,000. The data pertain to the period from January 1 and September 30, 2023.
