Minister Expects Gas Interconnection Serbia-Bulgaria to Be Completed in October

The minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic, yesterday visited the site of the construction of the gas interconnection Serbia-Bulgaria in Trupale near Nis, and said that she expected maximum efforts from all participants in the project, so that the gas interconnection which would connect Serbia with new suppliers and sources of gas, coming primarily from Azerbaijan, would be completed within the deadline, that is, during October 2023.

She pointed out that it was a strategically important project in the gas sector, but also in the country’s energy sector in general, as it would secure an additional route and a greater security of the supply of that energy source.

The minister said that negotiations had been had with representatives of Azerbaijan about the quantities of gas that Serbia could receive from that country for the purposes of the upcoming heating season, and added that it was 300 to 500 million cubic meters, maybe even more, the ministry announced.

– On the way to becoming a critical point is the delivery of electric equipment, which has been ordered and paid for, and here it is very important to us for all the pipes to be welded and laid down so that we would complete the line part of the pipeline – she said.

She added that this required a larger number of teams in the field.

– We talked about it with the contractors today, in order to improve the capacities – the minister emphasized.
