Cooperation of Vojvodina and Shandong to Intensify – Signing of Agreement Planned by the End of the Year

The provincial secretary for regional development, interregional cooperation and local self-government, Aleksandar Sofic, met at the Provincial Government with the delegation of Shandong, one of the richest Chinese provinces.

He pointed out that Vojvodina had signed agreements on cooperation with eight Chinese provinces.

– Numerous projects which are being realized by Chinese companies in the territory of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina are in progress, primarily when it comes to transport infrastructure, and companies from Shandong are among them. In addition to economic cooperation with our Chinese partners from Shandong, now is the moment for us to establish cooperation in other fields as well, culture, agriculture, tourism, to connect universities and science-research institutions – emphasized Sofic, as announced on the website of the Provincial Government.

According to him, in 2021, the first step was made toward establishing concrete cooperation, when the Letter of Intent on establishing and developing friendly relations and cooperation between AP Vojvodina and Shandong was signed.

– By the end of this year, the plan is to sign an agreement on cooperation which will define a wider framework of cooperation between AP Vojvodina and the Province of Shandong in numerous fields of mutual interest – Sofic emphasized.

The provincial secretariat for culture, public information and religious communities, Dragana Milosevic, pointed out that AP Vojvodina, through the ensemble of the Serbian National Theater Opera, had established the initial cooperation with Shandong in the field of culture three years before.

– In the coming period, the possibility for cooperation of our cultural institutions is open through the realization of joint projects and coproductions, connecting of artists and exchange of cultural content – pointed out Dragana Milosevic.

Cai Xianjin, the director-general of the Shandong Foreign Affairs Office, emphasized that the province was interested in intensifying cooperation with AP Vojvodina, where its companies already operated.

– Shandong is the biggest industrial producer and one of the leading production provinces in China. Last year, we had a growth of the gross domestic product of 6.2%. Our aim is to establish cooperation with the partners in AP Vojvodina in as many fields as possible – said Cai Xianjin and invited the delegation from Vojvodina to attend the international conferences that are held in Shandong this autumn, dedicated, among other things, to green economy and old cultures.
