In order to accelerate the crossing of the Hungarian border, on the biggest border crossing Roszke, which borders Horgos, the Hungarian police will divide passengers into control lanes according to the passengers’ citizenship, from June 5 through 26.

This means that the drivers of those passenger vehicles, according to the light signalization on the crossing, will chose the terminals based on whether they have the EU passport or are citizens of countries outside the Union.

The Hungarian police explains this with various check and border control procedures to which they are obliged by international agreements.

Traffic on the border crossing Roszke will be partially changed in line with this decision, so the passengers are advised to follow the set-up signs and instructions of the police force and the customs officials.

– We regularly reconsider the efficiency of the border-crossing procedures and we consider it a priority to reduce waiting. This is an experimental period, and if it turns out that it contributes to a more efficient border-crossing, it is possible that it will be implemented permanently – the Hungarian police force says.
