Project of Urban Planning Transformation of Almaski Kraj Neighborhood in Novi Sad Wins Prestigious International Architizer A+Award (PHOTO)

The project of the urban planning-architectural development of the spatial cultural-historical unit – the Almaski Kraj neighborhood in Novi Sad – the oldest Serbian part of the city from 1718, has won the prestigious Architizer A+Award for a project in the “Unbuilt Landscape” category.

This is a project for an all-encompassing reconstruction of the part of the city which is located between the Almas Church and the oldest Orthodox Christian church in Novi Sad, the Cathedral Church of the Holy Great-Martyr George, which encompasses parts of Podbara, Salajka and Stari Grad, it is reminded on the website of the Provincial Government, which fully financed the preparation of the project-technical documentation. The reconstruction of Almaski Kraj is a joint project of the Provincial Government and the City of Novi Sad.

– By developing Almaski Kraj, we are creating the conditions for the development of Novi Sad when it comes to culture, tradition, traffic and tourism, but this way we are also going back to our roots – stated the president of the Provincial Government, Igor Mirovic, at the presentation of the project.

The architect Djordje Bajilo, the director of the company DBA, which prepared the projects, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the whole team for the trust and support provided on this complex project.

– I see this award as a joint success of us all, as the promotion of the City of Novi Sad, the Province of Vojvodina, our state, but also the profession and care for history and heritage – stated Bajilo.
