Preparations for Reconstruction of Rail Corridor to Romania, Construction of Another Track to Be Considered – State Looking for Planners for Section of 80 km

Let us remind that Serbia got a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) in the amount of EUR 51 million and from the French Development Agency (AFD), also in the amount of EUR 51 million, for expenses of the rail sector of Serbia. Part of these proceeds will be used for the payment for the consulting services for the preparation of a spatial plan, a feasibility study with a preliminary design and an environmental impact assessment study for the reconstruction and modernization of the railroad Pancevo Glavna-Vrsac-Romanian border.
This section is around 80 km long and is part of the rail corridor Belgrade-state border, which, according to the document, is considered one of the most important ones in Europe.
Depending on the conclusions of the analysis, the potential construction of another track will be considered, since this is a one-track railroad.
The agreement is signed for 27 months, and until December 31, 2026, at the latest, as this is the planned date of the completion of the project.
