EPS builds five new excavators - License purchase agreed with the Danish company FLSmidth

The joint-stock company Elektroprivreda Srbije signed an agreement with the Danish company FLSmidth on the purchase of a technology license for five SchRs 740 rotary excavators with a capacity of 4,800 cubic meters per hour, according to the EPS press release.

- From the Danish company FLSmidth, successor to the Thyssen Krupp company, we will take the technical documentation and the license right for the production of rotary excavators, which will enable Kolubara Metal to make two excavators for Polje E and later three more for the TE-KO Kostolac branch - said Miroslav Tomasevic, acting general manager of EPS AD. - This contract is crucial for EPS, because we are faced with less and less interest of excavator manufacturers to participate in tenders. Now that we have the licenses, we will be able to construct the excavators that we need in the coal production process ourselves. We will use our own resources, knowledge, experience and technique with all prescribed technical standards to produce mining equipment that ensures stable production of coal and electricity.

The license from the contract with FLSmidth, worth EUR 3 million, includes specified patents and projects, technical drawings and complete documentation required for the production and assembly of the excavator. Kolubara Metal, which will manufacture excavators under a Danish license, already has the license right to produce self-propelled conveyors with a capacity of 4,800 cubic meters per hour.

The construction of the first excavator under this license is expected to commence in three months.
