Zdravkovic: Sale of 11 hydroelectric power plants to the Hungarian MVM would be a terrible move; without Bajina Basta, EPS would go bankrupt

The sale of 11 EPS hydropower plants to the Hungarian company MVM would be terrible, and if the Bajina Basta hydro and reversible power plants were among them, EPS would go bankrupt, says energy expert Milos Zdravkovic.

- These are our most valuable capacities - said Zdravkovic in the show Dan live on N1.

He commented on the information published by Demostat, that the Hungarian electrical company MVM is interested in the Drina-Lim hydroelectric power plants, although it is still not known which 11 facilities are involved.

Zdravkovic says that even if the reversible power plant and hydropower plant Bajina Basta are not among them, those 11 include hydropower plants Ovcar banja, Potpec, Uvac, Kokin brod and others, with a total installed power of 360 megawatts, which would be "terrible".

If we lose these 11 power plants, it would be very dangerous, the expert emphasizes.

He believes that the Hungarians "didn't just appear out of thin air" with this proposal, however the current EPS management is made up of career engineers, who "showed the dignity of the profession" by refusing.

He reiterates that EPS still imports electricity due to previous bad management, and says that the overhaul of the mines will certainly take another two years.

Everything that has been happening in recent days indicates that the fear of privatization is not unreasonable, said Zdravkovic.

- In my opinion, privatization would be a disastrous move - he said.
