In the coming years, over EUR 15 billion of planned investments in production energy capacities, transmission and distribution network
Aleksic mentioned that the energy transition is one of our principal goals, through which we want to encourage a greater participation of RES in the energy mix in order to reduce emissions of harmful gases.
- That process is not a matter of our obligations towards the European Union, the Energy Community or the Paris Agreement, but rather a question of our future - he said and added that the recently adopted amendments to the Law on the Use of RES, which will allow us to obtain new "green megawatts" and enable their sustainable integration into the system.
- This resolves the issue of a large number of requests for the connection of new solar and wind power plants, whose required capacity for connection has increased from 4.8 GW to 20 GW in the previous two years - Aleksic pointed out.
The minister's assistant reiterated that the construction of the Kostolac B3 thermal power plant, the first large production capacity after several decades, is nearing completion, that work is being wrapped on the construction of the wind farm in Kostolac, as well as on the development of a large project in solar energy.
Aleksic pointed out that the construction of the Trans-Balkan Corridor is underway. The Corridor will connect the power systems of Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro, improve the transmission system and enable a more significant integration of RES.
According to Aleksic, projects on the automation of the medium-voltage distribution network and the introduction of smart meters are crucial, and in the next few years they will make the power system more stable, more efficient and reduce losses.
