The modern business environment, the changing habits and demands of end users have made the systems of service activities, and therefore the transport and logistics of shipments, face numerous challenges every day, both at the organizational and operational level. Changes in society at the local and global level also affect it. In the past, there were different crises, such as various conflicts and economic crises. In such circumstances, in addition to the limitations that already exist in the system, new and more complex ones appear, which must be taken into account in order to maintain and increase the quality of the provided service.

Today, the corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic has significantly affected the courier services market and increased the volume of business. Distribution and sorting centers now have to manage increased package volumes and a greater variety of sizes and shapes, while also aiming to reduce delivery times and improve their customer service offering.

Aks Express Kurir d.o.o. is a company founded in 2007 whose main activity is the transportation and delivery of parcels, and thanks to the professionalism and commitment of all employees, today it is one of the leading parcel delivery companies in Serbia.

The company Aks Express Kurir recognized one of the key factors that have a positive impact on business, which is the monitoring of trends in terms of new technologies and the implementation of modern software solutions. In order to respond to the new market circumstances and the increased volume of business, the company invested two years ago in a new sorting center, with fully automated sorting lanes that ensure the sorting capacity of up to 100,000 shipments per day.

This investment led to an increase in labor productivity by as much as 50% and significantly improved the quality of the company`s services. The system works in automatic mode, where the functions of receiving packages, inserting them onto the tape, reading codes and sorting packages are performed automatically. Thanks to the automation of the scanning and weight calculation process, on the basis of which packages can be identified and precisely profiled, the automated sorting process is completed in just a few minutes. While before the introduction of automated sorting belts, 20,000 shipments required 8 hours of manual sorting work, now the same amount of packages is sorted in 4 hours. This further directly affected the arrival times of line transport to the company`s regional centers, and therefore faster delivery to end customers.

An increase in work productivity has also occurred among employees whose monotonous work tasks are now automated. They were requalified and redistributed to other sectors. With the new sorting belts, damage to shipments has been significantly reduced, by as much as 75%, which contributes to improving the perception of quality and safety as elements of the company`s brand.

The company Aks Express Kurir strives for innovative business, implements new and significantly improves existing processes and services. Promptness in work, quality of service and security of shipments is what the company strives for and is recognized for, with the aim of maintaining a leadership position in the express courier services market.
