So far, dual education has covered 13,000 students in Serbia, many of which have completed this model of learning through work and got employed at the companies where they acquired practical knowledge and skills, it was said at last week’s event “Dual Education Open Door Day – A Step to Practical Knowledge”, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS).

The event involved representatives of 31 companies which cooperate with 22 schools from Belgrade on the model of learning through work, with the aim of having young graduating class students and their parents learn about the advantages of this education model, which enables knowledge, experience, employment and further career development with the support of the economy, the CCIS says in a press release.

Mirjana Kovacevic, the coordinator of the Center for Education and Dual Education at the CCIS, says that the “Dual Education Open Door Day” will be organized in the coming period by another 11 cities in Serbia.

– Around 50% of the students who finished school according to this education model already work in their fields. Those who are not employed in their fields have continued their education, which is also an important message that this education model does not stop the development of a career, but provides the possibility of further education and development – Kovacevic points out.

– Companies which operate in the territory of Belgrade seek 750 students in the next school year, and the offer consists of 37 education profiles in line with the dual education model in 22 high schools – said Vesna Vidovic, the deputy mayor of Belgrade.

In the next school year, the offer in Serbia will consist of 72 education profiles according to the dual education model. At the moment, 850 companies are involved in the dual education model, whereas as soon as the next school year, 950 companies will be part of that education model.

The economy has offered 4,000 jobs within companies for the next school year, where young people will be able to acquire new knowledge and skills.
