River Monitor Sava Open to Visitors in Belgrade

The cultural good of the Republic of Serbia and an exhibition item of the Military Museum, the river monitor Sava, which is anchored between Branko’s Bridge and the Sava Port, has been re-opened for visitors following a winter break.

The only remaining ship from the group of river monitors from which the first artillery strike in WW1 was carried out and one of a total of ten vessels of that type in the world, formerly called Bodrog, and now Sava, had been restored and officially opened on November 1, 2021, on the occasion of the Belgrade Liberation Day.

Interested visitors will be able to take a tour of the river monitor Sava on work days, except for Mondays, from 10 AM until 5 PM, on Saturdays from 10 AM until 6 PM and on Sundays from 10 AM until 2 PM, according to the Government’s website. Group tours should be announced at least three days ahead.

Entrance is paid, and more information about the working hours and the organization of group visits with guided tours can be obtained by calling the Military Museum at +381 11 320 15 90.

In case of unfavorable weather conditions, such as rain or strong wind, the exhibition is closed, the press release says.
