Business council constituted for cooperation with Czech Republic -Czechs built power plant in Zaječar
The Business council for cooperation with Czech Republic has been constituted in the premises of Chamber of Commerce of Serbia. The president of Serbian part of the council is Vladimir Malbašić, president of Chamber of Commerce of Srem.
Czech Republic is a traditional economic partner of Serbia. Their mutual relations are based mainly on growing exchange of goods, but the volume of export of Serbian economy is pretty low. Last year, Serbian economy exported goods worth 67.2 million USD, whereas 193.9 million USD worth of goods were imported. The biggest exporters are U.S.Steel Serbia , Copper Mill Sevojno, MK Commerce , HIP Petrohemija, whereas the biggest importers are Auto Čačak, Nelt Beograd, DIN Niš and others. About 40 domestic companies operate in Czech Republic, among which are Interkomerc, Simpo, Hemofarm.
Svatopluk Čeh, economic councillor of the Embassy of Czech Republic to Belgrade, pointed out that the Czech entrepreneurs were interested in investment in parts of Electric Power Company of Serbia, production of industrial fertilizer, insurance and railways.
Czech company Moravija energo is getting prepared for construction of power plant in Zaječar, in which it will invest 70 million EUR. Important potential for cooperation between Czech and Serbian entrepreneurs is service sector, where tourism, transportation and information technologies stick out. Serbia and Montenegro are among eight countries that have priority over allotment of development aid. Thus, last year, 3.2 million EUR were set aside from the budget of Czech Republic for realization of projects in fields of industry and trade, as well as environment protection.
