The members of the National Assembly of Serbia yesterday adopted two laws which pertain to the modernization of the Belgrade-Nis railroad.

The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, explained during the discussion that it was a financial agreement on the rail corridor X within the “Global Gateway” agreement between Serbia and the European Investment Bank and the Law on the Confirmation of the Agreement on the Loan for Rail Corridor X, which pertained to sections from Belgrade to Nis.

Vesic said that the estimated value of the construction of the railway between Belgrade and Nis was EUR 2.775 billion and announced that, in the coming weeks, a grant would be signed with the European Union, whereby the EU would provide non-repayable funds for the construction of the railroad in the amount of EUR 598 million, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.
