Herceg Novi Remains One of Favorite Destinations for Tourists from Serbia – City Which Lives the Year Round and Offers Something for Everybody
This year, Herceg Novi is showcasing its offer individually for the first time, and the tourism organization has gathered representatives of the leading hotels, from Igalo to Kamenari, at its stand.
This year already began well for the city known for its numerous events. After the great visit during the New Year’s holidays, lest weekend, an event started that will last all the way until March 4. According to Milja Vitorovic, the director of the Tourism Organization of Herceg Novi, the Mimosa Days event brought a record number of tourists to the city this year.
– We are very satisfied, the first weekend of the Mimosa Days was truly phenomenal. We don’t remember when we last saw this many tourists. At the Mimosa Harvest, the first concerts and other activities alone, there were over 30,000 guests – Vitorovic said for eKapija.
– The Belgrade market, that is, the market of the whole Serbia, along with Republika Srpska, is still the most important for us, both in the winter season and in the summer season. The biggest number of guests come from here and I also have to mention the brotherly and friendly bonds that politics couldn’t disturb in all these years. I am especially glad for that. For example, at the Mimosa Days, there are lots of guests from Serbia, some of them own real estate in Herceg Novi, so they are on their own turf, they feel at home – our interviewee says.
The Mimosa Days, the Herceg Novi April Theater Festivities (HAPS), festivals… Through numerous events, Herceg Novi shows that it is not a city that lives only during the summer, but also offers numerous activities throughout the year.
– We are constantly working on overcoming the problem of seasonality. For example, this Saturday, we were supposed to hold the Winter Flower evening in cooperation with Exit, as part of the Mimosa Days, but due to the great rainfall which has been announced, the event has been postponed for April 1. We have also prepared a range of various events for the Easter holidays. The guests don’t only come in the summer and during the peak season, but throughout the year. That is why we are constantly working on attracting them through various events, which has already been recognized and the interest is truly great – Vitorovic says.
– That’s something that’s new in the past few years and for me that is a very important project, because I managed the Orjen Nature Mark. We have truly created a phenomenal tourist offer with pedestrian and panoramic tours, but also a rich gastronomic offer, which we can be truly proud of. Tourists from Western Europe, who stay at higher-end hotels, are especially interested in this kind of offer, which I am especially glad for. Of course, to us, each guest is important, but the fact that somebody who has traveled the whole world is delighted by our mountain and out offer only confirms our quality – eKapija’s interviewee says.
She points out that the image of Herceg Novi has changed a lot in the past few years, so the number of high-category hotels is growing as well.
– There’s Portonovi, then there’s Mamula Resort…. From Palmon Bay in Igalo to Hotel Lazure in Meljine, One&Only resort in Kumbor, Casa del Mare in Kamenari, along the entire Herceg Novi riviera, there’s a range of new hotels in categories ranging from 4 to 7 stars. That means that, now, in addition to private accommodation and numerous other hotels, Herceg Novi can finally meet the demands of each tourist and I can safely say that it offers something in every price category – Milja Vitorovic concludes in her interview for eKapija.
Cooperation agreement with TO Belgrade
At the fair, the director of the Tourism Organization of Herceg Novi signed the Agreement on Cooperation with the Tourism Organization of Belgrade.
– This is in fact a continuation of a good cooperation with the aim of boosting it, both in tourism and in sports, culture and other events and mutual promotions. We will place special focus on joint projects, that is, on the integration of the tourism offer for long-distance markets, especially those trans-oceanic ones – Milja Vitorovic told us.
