Agreement on EU Support to Energy Sector of Serbia Worth EUR 165 Million Signed
The agreement envisages assistance to our country so that it could go through the current energy crisis more easily. The money will be available for the implementation of the energy road map of the Serbian government, which describes what EU funds should be spent on, according to the website of the Government of Serbia.
The plan contains a number of measures, such as providing subsidies to jeopardized households, and thanks to that, this year, at least the same number of households will be protected as in 2022. The number is planned to gradually grow to 190,000 households by the end of 2023.
The second measure is the protection of small and medium enterprises from high electricity prices in order to help them keep operating despite the high prices of electrical energy. At least as many companies will benefit from it as last year, that is, at least 70,000.
The third measure is the saving of energy through inciting consumers of electrical energy, and the fourth one is increased competition in the markets of gas and electrical energy, which entails the separation and certification of all gas operators, the opening of the gas market and the carrying out of auctions for producers of electricity from renewable sources.
As added, the fifth measure is energy security, which entails the co-financing of projects and the adoption of investment plans in the power, oil and gas sectors.
The sixth measure pertains to promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, and it entails a scheme of subsidies to households in residential buildings with multiple families for carrying out measures of energy efficiency and subsidizing solar panels, heat pumps for private houses, small and medium enterprises and public buildings.
