The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has invited those interested to submit the initial information about potential projects for taking part in the regional project Investments in Energy, which aims to support projects which are technically, economically and ecologically sustainable and help them reach potential investors and finance institutions.

The purpose of the invitation made by the USAID is to take into consideration potential projects for the preparation of pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, whereas those for further consideration are to be chosen based on a contest, the invitation says. The initial information should be sent to the following addresses: energyinvestmentDIR@bv.com or energyinvest@bv.com, and the submission deadline is February 10, 2023, reports Balkan Green Energy News.

The regional project Investments in Energy, whose beginning in Serbia was marked in October, will focus on improving the investment potentials of environmentally friendly production, transfer and distribution of heating and electrical energy, on centralized heating systems, water supply and sewer, as well as on improving the energy efficiency of residential and office buildings, the invitation says.

The USAID has secured USD 20 million for this project.

The projects will be chosen in cooperation with international finance institutions, the banking sector, investors and users. The minimum investment in a project is USD 10 million, except that projects below USD 10 million will be considered as special cases if there is a sufficient interest by international finance institutions, the invitation says.

The support pertains to projects in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Georgia, Greenland, the Kosovo province, Moldova, North Macedonia and Serbia and potentially also in other countries of the region where the projects could, directly or indirectly, benefit the listed users.
