Train Speed Lowered Preventively on Two Spots Between Belgrade and Novi Sad
These are two-track sections three kilometers long in total, Stara Pazova-Indjija and Beska-Karlovacki Vinogradi, where the train speed has been lowered by 40 km/h. As a result, travel times between Belgrade and Novi Sad are only three to five times longer, the announcement says.
– The Belgrade-Novi Sad railroad is still within its guarantee period, which is three years on these sections. Within that deadline, the contractor on the fast railroad is obliged to remove the flaws on the rail infrastructure if it is proven that they are a consequence of the way the works were done. Serbian Railways Infrastructure also has banking guarantees from the contractor, which can be activated – the company says.
It is added that the expert services of Serbian Railways Infrastructure still regularly examine the entire route of the Belgrade-Novi Sad railroad in detail in order to inspect all the details and potential flaws, including those that don’t affect the functioning of the rail traffic on this section.
– Having received complaints about the geometry of the tracks, since Tuesday, the expert services of Serbian Railways Infrastructure are examining, for preventive reasons, not just the two sections where the flaws have been detected, but the entire railroad, in order to determine its state – the memo concludes.
