The CEO of the PE Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic, said today that the Government of Serbia had given priority to the construction of the gas interconnection to Bulgaria, Nis-Dimitrovgrad, by awarding the status of a project of special importance to that gas pipeline.
He said for RTS that the plan was to build the Nis-Batajnica route and to establish a gas connection with North Macedonia.
– Srbijagas has the task of accelerating the gasification of the country so that as many citizens and companies would connect to gas as possible. So far, around 40% of Serbia has been gasified, and observed by the number of residents, 55% – Bajatovic said. He added that the works on the gas pipeline section to Bulgaria through Serbia would be completed before the beginning of the next heating season.
According to him, Serbia will have an interconnector from Baumgarten in Austria, through the Hungarian transport system to the Revithoussa terminal to Alexandroupolis in Greece, access to TAP and TANAP, using the Trans-Balkans Gas Pipeline, which used to connect Ukraine, Bulgaria and Greece.
This, he said, enables the supply of LNG and “the diversification of both the sources and the suppliers”.
