After 60 years, the Nikola Tesla Airport and the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency (SMATSA) have a new control tower with a total area of 7,000 m2, 75 meters tall, with 120 m2 of an operating room equipped with the most modern equipment.

Yesterday, at 9.37 AM, the traffic was picked up from the workplaces in the new tower of the Airport Flight Control.

After a transition period, flight controllers will abandon the old tower location, which worked successfully from 1962 until today.

The value of the investments in the construction part amounted to EUR 18.8 million, and the value of the state-of-the-art installed equipment is EUR 5 million.

The new tower is also one of the biggest ones in Europe and is the pride of not just the Flight Control and the aviation sector, but of the entire Republic of Serbia, as well as Montenegro, since the SMATSA is a joint institution of both states.
