The mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Sapic, has talked to the regional director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the Western Balkans, Matteo Colangeli, about making the realization of the projects of energy efficiency in four public buildings in Belgrade concrete and the further steps related to it, Beoinfo reports.
In December 2021, the Loan Agreement was signed between Belgrade and the EBRD on securing a long-term financing for the implementation of energy efficiency measures in the buildings of the Emergency Service, the City Library, the Students Polyclinic and the Infirmary. The next step in the realization is the signing of the agreement on a grant between the City of Belgrade and the EBRD and the publishing of the tender for the reconstruction of these facilities.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the beginning of the realization of these projects showed the joint dedication of the EU, Serbia and the City of Belgrade to “green energy” and that energy efficiency was one of the key priorities for the EBRD in Serbia. The buildings which are to be renovated in order to be made energy efficient will certainly be more comfortable for use, and after the realization of this project, they will also be more stable and secure in terms of energy.
As said, it will also be a good way to stimulate the creation of “green” jobs and investments in the local economy, Beoinfo reports.
