Tender for Construction of Bypass Route Around Nis Published
The subject of the tender is the preparation of project documentation based on the Project for the construction permit and the construction of a new one-track electrified railway bypass route around Nis, 22.4 kilometers long, for speeds up to 160 km/h.
The works will entail the construction of buildings and structures at three railway stations (Nis Sever, Pantelej, Vrezina), the Prosek turnaround and Police Station Pantelej, the construction of a bypass route, four bridges with a total length of 143.92 m, eleven underpasses, three overpasses, culverts, passenger underpasses (Nis Sever, Pantelej, Vrezina stations), support walls and a noise-protection barrier.
The tender also entails the reconstruction of the railway on the Crveni Krst-Pantelej section, the moving of local roads, the construction of access roads and the moving of the Niska Banja-Prosek state road, as well as hydrotechnical and electrical works.
The duration of the agreement is 2 years.
The tender is open until November 24, and more details can be found HERE.
The publishing of this tender was announced for September 5, and the beginning of the works for June, and then it was moved to the autumn. Finally, in August, the competent minister, Tomislav Momirovic, said that the construction of the bypass route would begin in March 2023.
As he said earlier, the problem lies in expropriation, but also “the slowness of the procedures of the European partners” which are financing this project.
The construction of the bypass route, which has been planned for over 20 years, in order to move rail cargo traffic out of the Nis center, is financed by the European Investment Bank, and according to the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the investment is worth EUR 150 million.
