Unified TAG Toll Collection System in “Open Balkans” Countries Being Tested – When Will It Start Working?
Savis said that the company was in charge of 830 kilometers of highways and 66 toll stations and that the plan was to also open new stations after the construction of new highways.
He pointed out that electronic toll collection was the most common toll collection form at that moment and that the system featured over 550,000 active users.
Regarding the unified system of electronic toll collection in the countries of the “Open Balkans”, Savic pointed out that the TAG devices would be available for use in Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia.
– The system is currently in the testing phase, but we expect those final agreements to be signed soon and for the system to start functioning. It can very easily be expanded to other toll collection systems, even systems such as satellite ones in Bulgaria and also to toll collection systems in Republika Srpska, where we have already tested our devices and determined that they work, and also in B&H and Montenegro – said Darko Savic.
He explained that, within the “Open Balkans”, the system would function in the way that the TAG device would be connected with the user’s payment card, which wouldn’t need to be topped up, as money would be taken off the user’s account.
