Preparation of Project for Permit for Construction of Marina in Smederevo Soon – Promotion of Cruise Sailing Planned Too
– The study of the development of microlocations of the network of marinas on the Danube and the Sava, prepared by the agency, proposes Smederevo as one of the potential locations for the future marina. In the previous period, we invested in the preparation of the necessary documentation for pronouncing the port area of the port, the marina in Smederevo. The close proximity of the fortress, the multitude of tourism, sports and recreation and cultural features are the advantages of this microlocation on the Danube – said Perovic.
According to the press release, he added that, in addition to that, within the activities on the “Wake the Danube” project, there was talk about the next steps in the sense of promoting cruise sailing in Smederevo and about what Smederevo, as the medieval capital of Serbia, could offer to foreign tourists.
– In line with that, one of the topics of the meeting was the moving of the old port to a new location and the moving of the international passenger terminal to the city center. That way, the area around the fortress would be freed for the development of full tourism possibilities. Our aim is to position Smederevo on European nautical maps as a location with considerable potentials for cruise sailing and a marina – Perovic concluded.
The mayor of Smederevo, Jovan Bec, pointed out that the city had great tourist potential and that it would become apparent with the development of the marina.
– In cooperation with the Port Governance Agency, in the upcoming period, the city will make the maximum effort toward the preparation of all the necessary documentation. Considering that the agency had started preparing the study for the declaration of a marina on the Danube, what follows is the preparation of the project documentation for obtaining the construction permit. I also want to emphasize that an agreement has been reached for the cleaning of the marina to be carried out and for the dock to be put into function, that is, line traffic, where tourist ships would dock in Smederevo – he said.
Bec said that, in the coming period, meetings had been agreed in order to accelerate the whole process and make Smederevo one of the important tourist attractions in Serbia, which, considering everything, the city truly is, it is added.
Perovic and Bec visited the location of the future marina, as well as the Smederevo international passenger terminal. They agreed that the future infrastructure projects in the field of passenger water traffic would largely improve local economic development and increase the revenues from this industry, the press release concludes.
